"The hardest part about my job is combing the job of music educator with music entertainer. If I can move the crowd to dance while also turning them on to new music, then I have achieved my goal". While this might sound like an easy task, it has actually taken Slater over seven years to create his creative house recipe.

Slater's musical tastes were developed at an early age. "My father is the Dick Clark of Indianapolis. He is a historian or early rock n roll and doo-wop, so I had a big exposure to blues and soul as well."

While on a 3 year stint at Butler University, where he attended school on a tennis scholarship, Slater became interested in the mad sound coming out of Manchester, England. The Smiths, The Stone Roses, and The Happy Mondays were some of his early influences. These sounds gave way to New Order, Depeche Mode and the rest of the electronic movement.

Soon after his departure from Butler, Slater met up with his future partner in crime, John Larner. "This was the very beginning of my dj career. I was really interested in the early drum n bass sound, but then I met John, and heard proper house music and I was hooked."

Slater dove in head first and soon was promoting major parties in the city, as well as dj'ing on the Midwest party circuit. Regular gigs in Cincinnati, Louisville and St.Louis soon gave way to more national exposure. In 2002 Slater co-headlined a national tour with Lady D, one of the 4 Superjane divas.

It was at this time that Slater and John began working on their production. It didn't take long before their sound caught the ears of Mark Farina. "Mark is probably the biggest catalyst we had in the early stages, and still have today. His support of our tunes helped get them signed to labels we wanted to work with and allowed us to grab the ear of the global audience."

Since then, the duo have released over 12 records in 2003 and have played Belgium, Norway, Scotland, England, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, and Canada. As well as cities in the states such as Boston, New York, Chicago, Miami, San Francisco, Dallas, St.Louis, Denver, Los Angeles and many others.
