DJ,
label chief, promotions company owner, radio presenter & magazine
contributor, Paul Farris is one the UK’s most respected house
figures.
Embarking
early on his music industry career, Paul worked behind the counter
whilst simultaneously playing and promoting nights, directly out
of school. Many years, many clubs and much vinyl later, Paul’s
extensive music knowledge and retail experience led to the conception
of a new record store - in the heart of London’s Soho.
In 1995 Uptown
Records opened its doors, and with Paul as Manager quickly established
itself as one of the leading independent dance music stores in the
UK. It was during his time here that Paul – under the guise
of Shere Khan, with ATFC - produced ‘Jungle Juicy Funk’,
with its Bootsy Collins vocals and soul & funk influences.
Paul has been
a resident DJ with Defected throughout the label’s history.
Much respected and acknowledged for his never wavering commitment
to soulful house, a set from Paul will encompass the most upfront
soulful tunes, combined with essential house classics.
Paul has residencies
at Ministry of Sound, Kindergarten Klub, Sounds Heavenly, plus regular
guests slots at some of the UK & Europe’s best clubs including
Pacha, The Cross, AKA & The End, Heaven, Traffic (Coventry),
Angel Deelite (Manchester), Cool House (Cardiff), Heritage (Leeds),
Cherry Jam & Neighbourhood (London), The Escape Club (Brighton),
Blend (Derby), Thompson's Garage (Belfast), House Kick (Zurich),
D Club (Switzerland), Twisted (Vienna), Import (Warsaw), Night People
(London), Independence (London), & Pravda (Switzerland).
After nearly
eight years running Uptown, Paul left to set up his own promotions
company. In one short year, FourFour has flourished and now works
with some of the industry’s best labels - including West End
Records, Soulfuric, Purple Music, Kidology, JellyBean Recordings,
Tommy Boy, MoreHouse; and artists – including Jazz N Groove,

Con Brio –
musical terminology meaning “With Spirit” is the name
of Paul’s new UK label. Dedicated to releasing quality house
music of all genres, the first release, Soularis EP “Don’t
Change” & “Taste” received support from the likes
of ATFC, DJ Mag, Seamus Haji, CJ Mackintosh, Slammin Boys, Music
Week, Ministry Radio, Mike Gray & Jask. Release #2 is to be
promoted in early spring.
