Nigel Mihell
has built a career over 8 years of DJ and production experience.
DJing is without doubt one of lifes great buzzs for
Nigel and each and every time he gets to play it shines though that
this is not work for him its fun! Nigel has an energetic and exuberant
style and is not locked into any given format or genre his
parameters are that the tunes be Tuff, Driving, Funky
- but always chunky! and those guidelines apply to House or
Breaks!!! Nigel has played at many established clubs across the
UK and also plays very regularly in Canada and the USA.
During 2003
Nigel helped to start along with Midlands promoter guru John
Harding Northamptons SESSIONS. He was the 2003 resident along
side Alan LuvDup Stevens and during his time as resident
Nigel played along side the likes of Seb Fontaine, Audio Bullys,
The Stanton Warriors and Way out West, as well as the USAs
Scott Stubbs. In Canada and the USA Nigel has played on the Slinky
Tour In Vancouver on two occasions with John Kelly, Dave Lee, and
alongside Agnelli & Nelson on the Canadian leg of the MixMag
Tour and also in Vancouver Nigel played at the first Trans Atlantic
sortie for Seb Fontaines TYPE night.
Things in the
studio are working out nicely too!! Fate took its part in bringing
together Nigel and Julian Napolitano (one half of the mega JDS!)
together. An appreciation for the same production hardware and technics
was followed by a number of releases such as the remix of Playing
with Knives under the Pureal moniker and also
Get Loud released on Tall Pauls Label
Intensive Music.
The biggest success so far in terms of production for Nigel has
come this year with the massive Breaks hit made in collaboration
with JDS once again, JDS vs MIHELL Purple Funky Monkey
was released earlier this year on Rennie Pilgrims TCR label and
was hailed across the Breaks Community as the tune to come out of
the TCR camp so far... The Plump djs called it the biggest
record ever on TCR a Meat Katie called it Simply Massive
the plaudits for this tune were not only limited to the Breaks world
with Djs such as Judge Jules giving the tune big airtime on Radio
1, Hernan Catteneo and Timo Mass hammering it across the world and
James Zabiela calling it Stupidly Massive.
The production
success has continued with Nigels latest 2 offerings Hill
Billy Funk being snapped up by non other than the Mighty Seb
Fontaine for his brand new label Stereo Type released late November
2004.
The production
success is continuing for Nigel and he has again collaborated with
Julian Napolitano, and Simon Langford, to create Dont
Mean Shit which is set to be a monster this year on Free2Air
Recordings the release date is Monday June 20th.
More recently
Nigel again hooked up with Julian and Simon to create a slightly
funkier track that is being hailed as a potential summer smash.
Under the Soul Seekerz moniker the trio have come with Turn
Me Upside Down constant Radio One play from Judge Jules and
support from house gurus like Graeme Park look set to make
this track the Lolas Theme of 2005!
Finally on the production front look out for a track that is sure
to turn some heads in 2005 as Nigel and the boys combine tuff twisted
house with raw London rap, provided by up and coming star SPILT.
The result a sure fire hit called Paranoid which you've
heard exclusively on D-flection.
