| Kristine
W is an internationally known artist who's back with Fly Again and
on this her first, much anticipated album release for Tommy Boy Entertainment-
Kristine W is doing much, much more than 'flying.' She's soaring.
With 9 straight
#1 Billboard accredited hits to her name, Top 5 pop hits in 10 European
countries and a four octave vocal range piping out of her distinctive
chords, Kristine W is back on the scene and ready to recapture the
hearts and dancing feet of the new millennium of music lovers.
"Fly Again"
has been carefully crafted by an All-Star Team, led by the artist
herself. Surrounding herself with the brilliance of producers such
as The Scumfrog, Mac Quayle, Orange Factory, Eran Tabib, Trendroid,
and David Maurice was Kristine W's initial stroke of genius. Collectively,
the arsenal of producers assembled have impacted the charts with
artists to the tune of Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Minogue, Deborah
Cox, Dirty Vegas, and Angie Stone. Here the assembled talent behind
the control board have embellished and wrapped Kristine's signature
vocals with brightly shaped mixes of electronica, and live instrumentation,
shading in heavy influences of jazz, dance, pop, scat and R n' B.
In addition to producing her best album to date, the beautiful performer
in question also played saxophone and guitar on many of the songs,
as well as penning 10 of the 11 new songs on "Fly Again."
Kristine's
dedication on this album best explains the inspiration for this
labour of love:
"I would
like to dedicate this album to all of the brave souls that have
fought the battle with cancer. In 2001, as I was singing the songs
from the Stronger album, I was getting weaker and weaker. Plagued
by night sweats, confused, bruised and tired all of the time, I
knew instinctively whatever was wrong with me was out of my control,
so I tried to smile through my fears. I began a battery of tests
that led to a bone marrow biopsy and a diagnosis of acute myeloid
leukemia (AML). During my treatment, I watched so many people fight
the battle against cancer and lose. I felt and still feel like the
veteran of a war, dazed and still in shock that I am still here
when so many others were not so fortunate. It is my prayer, my hope
and my wish not to solicit pity or sorrow but to inspire others
to dream and love and fight with everything they have. On September
11, 2001, I had a stem cell transplant, fighting for my life, when
others at the World Trade Center so tragically could not fight for
theirs. It was a harrowing experience and still haunts me today.
Music however, inspired me and was a constant companion during my
months of isolation. Every day was a gift and my music and my shows
are tremendously special to me, for I now know how fortunate I am
to be here."
Now successfully
and happily in remission, "Fly Again," carries the good
news of her victory in the lyrics and the grooves.
With her new
album for Tommy Boy scheduled to release on October 21st. Kristine
W is once again perched on a vantage point overlooking the world
of music that she's already conquered. But this time she's looking
through new eyes. She's battled for her life, won and is flying
again.
