Born in Glasgow
in 1982, Colin Sales has always had an ear for house music. Influences
include Roger Sanchez, Jon Mancini, Joey Negro, Sandy Rivera, and
the mixing maestro that is Sasha.
His first DJing
experience was at a house party on New Years Day 2003, He soon got
into the groove, where his love grew for funky, chunky house beats.
Later in the year he acquired some ones and twos and began mixing
tunes. His first few mixtapes were a blend of vocal house with a
dash of dirty prog.
Throughout
2003 he developed his style with the eclectic combination of soulful
house beats, vocals and funk. Colin's first mix CD was Fall 2003
which met critical acclaim from local DJ's and clubbers alike.
Gig-wise, 2004
saw Colin play and promote his first club night, Shake Your Booty,
to an invited audience, alongside many other local DJs. Colin soon
became resident DJ and promoter for Sounds In The City which was
a club night devoted to up and coming DJs in and around Glasgow,
and also secured his first gig for legendary club, Colours, in Glasgow.
It wasn't long
before Colin made appearances for more Glasgow club nights such
as Ufreak, Hexane and Pulse. In Summer 2004, Colin was invited to
play in the Aftershock Arena's at Leeds Festival and Creamfields
2004. He describes these as probably his best gigs yet. The festive
season for 2005 arrived in style for Colin as he played for both
Colours parties, Winterparty 2004, and Colours Meets Hed Kandi NYE
2005, as well as playing in his home town of Paisley at new night,
Delicious Disco.
During 2004
Colin also gained a weekly radio show broadcasting into the early
hours on Friday nights and on Sunday evenings to a global audience
Colin also brought guest DJ mixes from the likes of Stonebridge,
Jon Mancini, Kris Keegan, Axwell & more to the show, as well
as local up and coming Djs.
In 2005, Colin
re-branded the radio show, calling it 'Kinda Groovy' on www.tokyma.fm.
Colin is also working with one of the worlds biggest house labels,
Defected Records, hosting their weekly Defected In The House radio
show on the same station.
Gig-wise in
2005, he has become resident @ Delicious Disco, and is also doing
the After Shock arenas all over again beginning at We Love Homelands
festival. Not to mention more dates for Colours, Hed Kandi, Session
and Globe - Colin is set to rock both the dancefloor AND your living
room for some time to come!
