 ATFC

Aydin Hasirci aka ATFC (Aydin The Funki Chile) is one of the dance music industry’s shining stars. With a string of successful productions under his belt, a burgeoning remix discography and his own label going from strength to strength, ATFC is a talent very much in demand.

Despite his various successes Aydin is, first and foremost, a DJ. With 15 years experience under his slip matt Aydin is hugely talented behind the decks. With his roots grounded in hip-hop, jazz, soul and funk, the young Aydin started organising his own block parties when he was just 16, which led to gigs at London venues like the Rock Garden and Crazy Larry’s.

In 1997 while spinning as resident of Bump‘n’Hustle and The Gardening Club in Bournemouth, Aydin joined Uptown Records, suddenly finding himself at the heart of London’s dance community. During this time Aydin produced his first UK hit for Defected records under his OnePhatDeeva guise. ‘In and Out of My Life’ brilliantly fused together Norman Cook’s string-laden ‘Right Here Right Now’ with the vocals of Adeva to bring about a hugely uplifting disco track that was to define the style of OnePhatDeeva.

The single launched Aydin and he went on to play at Defected nights across Europe and at clubs such as Ministry of Sound, Garage City, The Cross and Code. Regular dates at Pacha London, The Cross, Zap Brighton, D-Club Switzerland, Torres de Avilla Barcelona, Twisted Vienna, Import Warsaw and Club Milk Belfast were to follow.

Aydin’s follow-up single ‘Bad Habit’ was given the honour of being played four times during The Magic Sessions event at Miami’s Winter Music Conference. Tony Humphries and Ted Patterson both played the infectious track, with Louie Vega playing it twice in succession. Championed by punters, DJ’s and singers alike, ‘Bad Habit’ gave Aydin his second top 20 UK hit and was followed up by a collaboration with Warren Clarke under the duo’s Lab Rats pseudonym. ‘Music is my Life’ was signed to Soulfuric Recordings, giving the Lab Rats the distinction of becoming the first non-US producers to be signed to the label.

In between his original productions, Aydin put his remix touch to artists including All Saints, Agent Sumo, Dina Carroll, Phillip Bailey, Samantha Mumba, The Lightening Seeds, Safri Duo and Junior Jack.

‘SleepTalk’ featuring Lisa Millet, the third OnePhatDeeva single, made it three hits in a row for Aydin; the single went into the charts at number 33 after spending 8 months in the Hype chart.

Such success led to Aydin establishing his own label, OnePhatDeeva Recordings which, since its creation, has released 12” cuts by Giddy Aunt, KBoy, Pablo Avocado, Warren Clarke, ATFC himself as well as the ‘founding father’ of house, Marshall Jefferson. His recent releases ‘Erotik’, ‘Transparent’, ‘Fakerman’ and ‘More Shots from the Hip’ have proven Aydin’s longevity and put his imprint on the map. His collaborations with Mark Knight and Seamus Haji and his most recent releases, the beautiful ‘Reach Out To Me’ featuring Inaya Day and his debut mix album, ‘Hip Joints’, demonstrate that Aydin’s quest to bring beautiful beats to the masses is firmly on track.
