 Andy Ward, Soul Central

Soul Central's cross over hit "Strings of Life" played in clubs across the world in 2005. Andy Ward aka Soul Central is touring Australia, and promoting his latest release "Need You Now".

For seven years Andy presented one of the most acclaimed shows on UK radio for Galaxy 102.2. A "Soul Heaven" resident from it's opening at the Ministry of Sound, Andy's dedication to soulful house saw the Southport Weekender book him in November '03 to play the legendary main room, warming up for none other than Masters at Work. A call from Louie Vega after the event congratulating him on a superb debut and warm up slot was the best reaction any DJ could have asked for…

Not only a natural over the airwaves and on the decks, Andy has moved into his own production work with great success. He has had record contracts with Strictly Rhythm, Masters at Work, Henry Street, Soundmen on Wax & 4 Liberty records, and several licensing deals under his belt. He is also co-owner of Clean Cut Records which fires out quality soulful House music and has the support of the world's leading players.

In 1998 Andy teamed up with Paul Timothy to form Soul Central. Paul also comes from a DJ background, and cites work with Led Zeppelin legend Robert Plant on his CV. Their single "Strings Of Life (Stronger On My Own)" was without doubt one of the biggest club tracks worldwide of 2004. A new interpretation of Derrick May's classic single from 1987, it was their first project together and kicked off their career as Soul Central. Released on Defected Records, "Stronger On My Own" catapulted them into the National UK Charts storming in at an impressive no. 6 in January 2005. Soul Central have given the original classic track a makeover in the form of Kathy Brown's stunning vocal performance of "Stronger On My Own", which sits like it had always been featured on the track. Kathy, whose personal inspiration includes Patty Labelle, Aretha Franklin and The Weather Girls certainly has put a whole lot of soul into proceedings! Tearing places apart where ever it's played Strings of Life (Stronger on my Own) is still one of the biggest house tunes out there at the moment, and is destined to take its place as a classic alongside the original. Their latest single, "Need You Now" is due to be released on Defected this month.

Andy has had residencies at some of the UK's finest clubs like Decadence, God's Kitchen, Garage Nation, and a monthly residency at The Ministry of Sound's much-hyped "Soul Heaven" night. He is now regarded by most as one of the UK's leading Soulful funky House DJs. Nationally & Internationally Andy's reputation precedes him.
