 Ron Carroll

Ron Carroll began his DJ career in the early 1980s in his own club called Bangin’ Enterprize and after a few years on Chicago’s South Side, started associating with DJs like Lil’ Louis, Mike Dunn and the legendary Ron Hardy. With a history of singing in gospel church choirs, Ron started to sing gospel over house tracks and in collaboration with Ron Trent, Big ED, Hula & K.Fingers released “My Prayer” and “A New Day” on the Clubhouse Records label.

In 1994, Ron ventured to the Winter Music Conference in Miami Florida for the first time. On the third day he ran into Louie Vega and asked if he could write for Masters at Work, a request that yielded the Billboard #1 Dance Hit “I Get Lifted” featuring Barbara Tucker. Following on from this success, producer Mike Dunn invited Ron to work with himself and Byron Stingily in the Deep Soul Production Co where he co-wrote, arranged, and sang background vocals for 6 tracks on Byron’s “The Purist” album out on New York’s Nervous Records. Following this, Ron went on to work with producers such as Frankie Knuckles, Mousse T, Boris Dlugosh and Maurice Joshua and artists such as Destiny’s Child, Adeva, Kim English and Kathy Brown – an experience that inspired him to become a full-time artist and producer.

After two tough years, Ron was introduced to Afterhours Records and produced the solo artist tracks “Sounds” and “Stronger” while also collaborating with producer Spero Pagos under the name Ministers of Sound. At around the same time and while wanting to expand his repertoire, Ron was introduced to Mazi from Fiat Lux Records in France, just at the same time he was scouting for someone to write and sing a new track… “Lucky Star”, the single taken from resulting album “Hold Up”
