The only thing
better than being in over your head is being Knee Deep.
Bastie and
Toddie (aka Knee Deep), began their careers in Hamburg - Germany's
house stronghold. Forging their friendship among the clubs and beats,
Knee Deep attracted significant attention with their very first
remix in Aug '98, 'Rock With You'. From that point on there has
been no signs of slowing! Remixing the likes of Dave Morales, Bob
Sinclar, Jamiroquai, Everything But The Girl, and their most famous
remix Afro Medusa's 'Pasilda', which was the tune of 2000 and led
on to the German Dance Music Award for Best Remixer, pipping the
likes of Timo Maas.
It is the deep,
satisfying and thrusting grooves that are the trademark of Knee
Deep. Making sure never to complicate things with unnecessary loops
they apply this simplicity to both their production and their live
sets. Fusing latin, soul and funk in amongst their own beats Knee
Deep carve an atmosphere where the subtleties of the sounds create
a suspense that builds and builds with the rhythms spiked with sharp
details made to inspire! With Knee Deep it is not the singles or
the hits that captivate but the range of records and the surgical
touch with which they are handled.
Knee Deep have
only played once before in Melbourne and this was at Seven in 2003.
It will be a stellar welcome back! During their last tour Knee Deep
also teamed up with Melbourne musicians Simon Grey and Gavin Pearce
who subsequently relocated to Germany and have worked closely as
a partnership on records for Jamiroquai, Bootsy Collins and Everything
But The Girl. It is this keen awareness of not only the sounds but
of what is going on around them that has made Knee Deep one of the
foremost acts in house music and a much loved and respected element
in the producing scene.
With all this
acclaim it is clear that none of Basti and Toddie's success has
come from luck , and their hard work deserves big dividends. They
will be working hard for Melbourne crowd's proving that there is
a good reason for their global success, and the punters are sure
to be rewarded with an unforgettable party!
